Bonjour les élèves! Je m'appelle Dana. J'ai 17 ans. J'ai les cheveux bruns. J'assiste à l'école de "Bella Vista High School." J'adore lire. I live in Fair Oaks, which is a small part of Sacramento, California. Sacramento is a large city with a lot of exciting places to visit. I really enjoy going to the movies or spending time at the local coffeeshop with my friends. Also, I love to go shopping at my favorite store "Urban Outfitters," but I don't like going to the big malls. On the weekends I go to the parks near my house or my friends's houses, and we have picnics or just hang out. In the winter it's so much fun to go "ice blocking" at the park. Basically you buy a big block of ice and ride down huge (grass) hills. It's way fun in the rain and mud! Downtown Sacramento is also a cool place to go to. There are a lot of a interesting shops and restaurants, and it's nice to just walk around and meet new people. During summer, art galleries display local art, and you can just walk around and check out the different cultures of our city.
If I travel just a few hours away from Sacramento, then my favorite places to go are San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Bodega Bay. They are beautiful cities, especially Bodega Bay. The picture at the top of my page was taken at the beach there! (I go every winter.) Et vous?? Comment vous appellez-vous? Qu'est-ce que vous aimez faire? Est-ce que vous jouez du sports? Avez-vous des frères ou des sœurs? Quelle type de musique aimez-vous? Hello Dana,

Hey Stéphanie!
It's nice to meet you (even if it's over the Internet)! Wow, you speak a lot of languages. Sadly, I only speak english and a tiny bit of French.
My school has twice as many students as your school, but my class (French 4) only has 11 students. Most of my other classes have about 34 students. I feel the same as you-- I don't like math! I find it extremely difficult to comprehend. But I do like my english class because I love reading. Right now we are reading "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin. I'm in my last year of high school, so next year I plan on going to a University. Maybe in New York.
My dad owns a business that sells truck parts and my mom works for small organizations. One of my brothers and one of my sisters are both at Universities right now. My other siblings are a lot older than me, so they aren't in school anymore.
It sounds like we have a lot in common. We both love to dance, listen to music, and laugh! Those things make life better, don't you agree?
So what do you like to do when you go out? Where is your favorite place to go with your friends? Have you traveled much?
I hope to hear back from you soon!

Salut Dana,

Great job, Stephanie, keep up the good work!

Salut Steph!
--Dana Hello Dana,
I'll tell you a little about my routines
I usually get up at a quarter to seven in the week , I am a night owl because I go to bed at half past ten and sometimes at eleven o'clock. I often arrive at school at ten past eight, I am in the fifth social and educative sciences, that's a good option last year I was in language that's why I speak also Dutch and Spanish and of course English. I have lunch at twenty to one to twenty-five past one, a lot of pupils of the sixth eat outside but in the fifth we have school lunch. I'm English on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I go back from school at five o'clock and I work for school about two hours. I like English but I like learning another language for later to travel. At the weekend I often go to see my friends because I like to be with them because I laugh a lot, I sometimes visit my family who live in Brussels ( that's the capital of Belgium ). At the weekend I never get up early because I am very tired of my week but sometimes I am not the choice I have to get up early.

Very good job Stéphanie!
your teacher
Hey Steph!
During the week I get up at 5h50 because I start school at 6h55 in the morning. At night I go to bed around 11h00 pm, sometimes later. I don't really sleep much. I have had my license for almost two years, so I drive to school like most of the older students. Since school starts so early for me I am finished by 12h14, which is right before lunch (I only have 5 classes this year. If I had 6 I would get out at 1h46 in the afternoon). Our school calls this “zero period.” Students that aren’t in “zero period” start at 7h55 and are finished at 2h50 (if they have six classes).
On Saturdays I usually wake up at 9h30, unless I have to be somewhere early in the morning. On Sundays I get up around the same time, and then I go to church at 11h00.
I go out with my friends a lot, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. During the week I am usually too busy with homework and church-related activities, but I usually go to the gym once a week with my friend Kaitlyn. If I’m not busy then we go get ice cream or watch our favorite elevision shows together. I probably go out with my friends about 5 times a week. Also, we like going to our school's sports teams's games.
You mentioned before that you want to be an esthetician. Can you tell me a little about that? What is it really? What classes do you take for that?
I have some random questions for you Steph. What are the boys like in Belgium? At your age are they mature or do they still act like little boys? Do the students at your school like to date other students? They really do here. Everyone likes to kiss in the hallways, so that's a little annoying. But oh well, I guessit's sweet.
Can’t wait to hear from you!

Hello Dana,
First Happy New Year and a lot of happiness for this year. I'll tell you about my spare time and media time
About my spare time...
My hobbies are dance and tennis but I'm not in a sportclub, the common hobbies in Belgium are dance for girls and soccer for boys.
During my spare time I love hanging out with my friends and my boyfriend. With my friends I go out to parties and also have a drink. At the weekend I sometimes go for a walk and then I go out. I don't do a physical activity because I don't have the time but sometimes I play tennis with friends and I dance at parties.
I don't spend a lot of time with my parents, I am with them for having dinner and sometimes for watching TV. I have to do chores as cleaning my room, setting the table and clearing out the table.
As for media time...
I watch TV for about two hours every day, I watch series and sometimes a film. At the weekend I watch TV almost all dayy when I don't go out, I watch a lot of series.
A lot of Belgian teens watch series because it's relaxing and sometimes good fun fro example: the series "un,dos,tres,.." "seconde chance"...
I am plugged-in every day a lot of time because I use 2 media at once; TV and computer and sometimes also listen to music.
My computer is in my bedroom, there are four computers at home.During schooldays I use my computer for 1h30 and at the weekend 3 hours. When I am on the internet, I chat with my friends on MSN and Facebook. I download music and sometimes for the school I search information.
The most important to me is my mobile because I like sending messages or calling my friends or my boyfriend.
I haven't got conflicts with my parents except for my mobile because sometimes it's expensive.
Now tell you a little about yourself..
What do you do in your spare time ?
What are the common hobbies in the USA ?
I can't wait to hear from you
Love
Steph
Hello Dana,
How are you ? good I hope...
I'll tell you about the capital of the Belgium : Brussels
I choose this city because it's the city where I was born and there are a lot of things to see...
There is a wonderful square with near the museum of chocolate ( if you like chocolate it's very interesting =p )
If you love shopping there is a big street with a lot of shops
On this picture it's the square at Christmas, there is a big show with the lights and also there is a ice rink and of course a Christmas tree it's wonderful
Hello Dana,
I'll tell you about my city : Ath
I am from Brussels because I was born there...
Although Ath is a small city there are a lot of things to do for the young people. There is a street with a lof of shops which sell all sorts of thing ( fashionclothes, jewels,...). Near the square there are a lot of cafés and restaurants of all kind ( Italian, Chinese,...) and of course some "friteries". My favourite café is "Mogador" because all the young people are there every friday because there is a good atmosphere and of course all my friends go there so I go every Friday. Very close to my school there is a cinema but it is small and every Thursday there is a market.
There are also a lot of things to visit;
- Paradisio; it is an animalist park, it is wonderful because there are a lot of things to see
- The Gallo Romain museum; it is a museum with the excavations of the area
- The Burbant Tower; it is a square keep who was built in second half of the XII th century, it is very close to my school.
There is also a beautiful park with a basketball court and a soccer field. Near there is a three-star hotel.
There is the military airport of the SHAPE, the military base of the nato in Europe.
Each 4th Sunday of August there is "la ducasse d'ath" it is all weekend, it is an old popular celebration of more five centuries, it's unique because there are a lot of tanks and giants and especially they go out only once a year so it's a great event.
I hope that I made you feel like coming one day to visit this wonderful city.
I can't wait to hear from you.
Love Steph
Hey Steph,
Wow, you wrote a lot since I last checked! Our lives sound similar in many ways. I don't spend much time with my parents, not even to eat dinner really. I also like to hang out with my friends, text (send messages), go to parties (and dance!), and watch TV. I also have a Facebook. If you want we can add each other! I usually use the computer a lot during the week, but not as much on the weekend. I spend most of my time doing schoolwork, doing stuff with my church (and church friends), and hanging out with my friends from school. I'm also in the choir at my church.
Also, Belgium and Ath sound like very cool places. I really hope I can visit someday! That would be fun!
Last month we had a week off from school to celebrate President's Week.

Hello Dana,
How are you ?

The first week I went by my mother and the second week I do a lot of things ; I went to the cinema, go out with my friends...
Your picture by New York is wonderful I hope go there one day =)
Talk to you soon!
Steph
Hey Steph,
I am glad you had a nice break! Sunshine is always lovely! :)
My teacher asked us to tell you either a really good or really bad experience we have had. I choose to tell you about a good experience because that is much less depressing!
In the summer of 2007, my family and I went to Hawaii for eight days. We stayed on the island of Kauai, which I believe is the most beautiful island in the chain. The weather is beautiful there, and the scenery is breathtaking. The reason this trip was such an amazing experience is because almost my entire family went. This includes my dad, step-mother, brother, step-sister, and my other step-sister and her family (husband, and daughter). My family doesn’t spend that much time together because of our schedules, so it was a blessing to be able to spend eight straight days together. Naturally we argued and pushed each other’s buttons, but in the end, we were so happy to be together. We went to the beach, attended a luau, swam in the ocean, and even went zip-lining through the jungle. I grew closer with my niece Haley, who at the time was about two years old. While the boys surfed, my sisters and I tanned on the beach and just had fun. None of us wanted to leave when that day came around, but we were thankful for the great week we’d spent as a family.
If you’d like, I would enjoy hearing about a good experience you’ve had!
Bye for now,
Dana
Bonjour Steph,
Dana
Hello Dana,
I have to tell either a good or a bad experience, I have had. I choose a good experience. I went in London last year with my class, we
spent four straight days together. During the trip I grew closer with my friends because we were always together. It was an amazing
trip because we had to visit a lot of things; I visited "The tower of london" it was very interesting but it is big and we had no time to
see it all but it's very beautiful, I also visited different museums but I didn't like that because I hate visiting museums. What I prefered
was the "crown jewels" and mostly evening when we could walk in London to eat and to go shopping. We had a great time because we had
a lot of free time and also I improved my English because we had to manage alone. To eat it was great because there are a lot of things
fo eating. When I went there I ate Mc donald's of course and also chinese and Italian food and a lot of muffins and donuts. The people
are very friendly because they heard us speak French and they asked you where we came from. London is a very animated city because
there are always people, even the evening there are a lot og people and it's a very illuminated city and I love it. I love this city I would
like to return.

There are also a lot of things to visit;
Love
Steph
Hey Steph,
Wow, you wrote a lot since I last checked!

Hey Steph,
I am glad you had a nice break!
A bientot
Steph
